Crockpot mac and cheese

Last weekend, I decided to try something new in my crockpot.. something I have NEVER made on my own before-- MACARONI AND CHEESE!

I have eaten the kraft blue box kind my whole life- and still do (YUM!!) but, I decided to surprise hubby and try something new... I found this recipe online, and it was really easy and it turned out surprisingly yummy! it is probably not something I will make all the time, as it is rich, and kinda heavy on the stomach.

MAKES 8 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16oz box of elbow macaroni
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 12oz can of evaporated milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese(I used mild, but use what you like)
  • 1 cup shredded marble jack cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • dash of cayenne pepper to taste(OPTIONAL- I DIDN'T USE THIS)
  • 1/4c butter cubed

step 1: spray slow cooker with non stick spray

step 2: rinse uncooked pasta in cold water to remove dust and drain

step 3: and pasta to crock pot along with milks, cheeses, seasonings and stir well to combine making sure macaroni is submerged in liquid as much as you can.

step 4: dot with the cubed butter

step 5: cover and cook on low heat for 1 hour, remove lid and stir, check pasta for doneness, if the noodles are to your liking then it is done cooking if not continue to step 6

step 6: continue cooking and checking in 30 min intervals to ensure pasta does not get overcooked and mushy. (it took 1 hour and 30 min in my crock pot)

Crock pot porkchops

I found this recipe, it was simple and easy to make.. only thing I did was omit the HUGE amount of chili paste, and garlic it called for as not big on garlic, and cant handle heat

here is what you will need:

3 to 5 1" to 1 1/2" thick boneless pork chops

1/2 cup brown sugar - packed

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 cup corn starch

1/4 cup water

in your crockpot, combine brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce salt and pepper and stir to combine. add the pork chops and make sure they are coated thoroughly.

cook on low setting for 4 hours. at the end of that time combine the cornstarch and water till cornstartch is dissolved and add to the crockpot. cook for 1 additional hour or until chops are done and tender.

Crockpot cheeseburger macaroni

This recipe is very simple, and really delicious!

what you will need:

  • 2 pounds of ground beef- browned
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese- shredded
  • 1-2 cups mozzarella cheese-shredded
  • 16oz box elbow macaroni--uncooked
  1. cook beef in skillet over medium heat until browned, drain and add to crockpot
  2. add onion, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce and broth and stir to combine
  3. cover and cook on low 6-8 hours (or 3-4 hours on high)
  4. 15 minutes before cooking time ends stir in the pasta and cook till desired tenderness.
  5. stir in cheese till melted
  6. serve immediately

this recipe serves 6. I make it without the onion and garlic, but that is just a personal preference- and it still tastes great.
